A rare alabaster clock depicting "The Abduction of Europa" by Zeus, who had transformed himself into a bull. Europa, dressed in an ancient-style tunic that reveals one breast, is seated on the back of the animal, which is decorated with garlands of flowers, and holds a drape billowing in the air. The entire piece rests on a rectangular base featuring a gilded bronze dial with Roman numerals, surrounded by two dolphins in bas-relief. The dial is signed “Alibert A Paris”... Read more
