Set Of 4 Tulip Chairs By Eero Saarinen For Knoll International

A beautiful set of four "Tulip" chairs by Finnish designer Eero Saarinen, for Knoll International.
White-lacquered fiberglass shell and cast aluminum base coated with white Rilsan.
Designed in 1955–1956, this chair (and table) model is so timeless and iconic that it remains one of Knoll’s best-sellers to this day. The designer’s original idea was to eliminate the “forest” of chair and table legs by creating a single central leg. Success came fairly quickly, but it was Stanley Kubrick’s film *A Clockwork Orange* that cemented their place in popular culture in 1971—15 years after their creation.
This set dates from the 1980s, according to its former owner. They are non-swiveling; the Rilsan and fiberglass show some signs of wear or impact (additional photos available upon request), and the pads and covers are not original (I have the originals, but they are in poor condition). No markings on the underside of the base.
