Acquired at auction in Dijon (France). Rifle that belonged to General G. (1874–1941), then remained in the family.
Miquelet-style lock decorated with chiseled brass. The lock spring is missing.
Wooden stock made of wood inlaid with cylindrical brass and bone (or ivory) elements. Thewood is also decorated with cut silver plates set with red coral cabochons.
European-style barrel, faceted in the first third and then round up to the muzzle.
The barrel is secured to the stock by seven rings of chiseled and repoussé silver.
A high-quality firearm and a fine testament to France’s conquest of Algeria.
