Important African metal axe engraved with geometric designs on the semicircular blade—which appears to me to be shaped like a rooster’s head—and a wrought-iron shaft. The handle is braided with leather; from West Africa.
Period: Early 20th century, circa 1900–1930.
Condition: Good condition; the blade has a patina of surface rust and is in its original state; the leather is in good condition.
