Born in Tochigi Prefecture—In the 1930s, he studied woodcarving under a temple sculptor.
He was a student of Seibo Kitamura (1884–1987), a national treasure. He graduated from the Pacific Art School in 1945.
Between 1945 and the 1970s, he exhibited at the Salon 18 times. He received numerous awards and honorary titles. He created several monuments and outdoor sculptures. In 2020, a retrospective exhibition was held at the museum in his hometown.
His works are characterized by a style imbued with vitality, featuring solid, geometric, and harmonious forms. He sought to express the beauty of the human body and of life.
