Gouache sheet 132 x 30 cm. - Ono Komachi (poetess, 9th-10th century) is featured in an Edo-period novel (1694): The Nine Aspects, describing the decomposition of the body of the poetess of legendary beauty. This is believed to be the 8th aspect. "The Scattered Bones." This is an adaptation of an 11th-century Chinese text (Northern Song Dynasty) that influenced Japanese macabre literature. - Hidehiro Iwata, born in 1883 in Shiga Prefecture - Painter who studied under Tsuji Kakō (Zen painter). From 1919 onward, he received awards and exhibited regularly. Member of the Imperial Painting Association. He made a name for himself with his paintings of historical figures. In 1940, he published views of Taipei, after which he disappeared from the public eye. An illustrated note about the artist will be given to the buyer.
