Bronze with a brown/black patina. In its original presentation box. Inscription on the box: "grapes". The artist: In 1917, he studied under Tobari Kogan (a student of Rodin) and joined the Pacific Painting Association. From 1924 to 1928, he was a student of Aristide Maillol (he was the only student Maillol ever took on). Upon his return, he expanded his work to include dry lacquer, thus blending Western-style forms with an ancestral Japanese material. 1951 - Exhibited at the 1st São Paulo Biennial - Member of the Japan Academy of Fine Arts in 1952 - Professor at the Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1983, he was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit. His works are notably held at the Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (as well as the Akone Museum, Sapporo).
