This type of dagger was mass-produced in Solingen in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Intended for discreet carrying in a boot or on a belt, it served as a personal defense weapon used by civilians, hunters, and military personnel.
During World War I, many daggers of this model were carried by German soldiers. In close-quarters trench combat, they were used as melee weapons, alongside the trench knives specifically developed during the conflict.
