19th-century Medallion Reliquary Set Between Two Panes Of Glass

An encolpion-style medallion reliquary, oval in shape and made of brass, finely engraved with stylized rocaille motifs.

Four contact relics are affixed to a yellow cloth, each with a label bearing the name of a saint.

Episcopal wax seal on the back and cords. Both sides are protected by glass.
Spanish work, circa 1850–1880.
Among the relics, we can identify Peter Claver (b. Petri Claver) (1580–1654), who dedicated himself to helping African slaves and is venerated in Colombia, where he carried out his missionary work.

Canonized by Leo XIII in 1888, the relic presented here attests to his status as Blessed, prior to his current status as a saint. (hence the possibility that this reliquary predates that canonization).
Oval dimensions: 4.5 x 4 cm; 6.5 cm including the loop.

Two slight chips along the edge of the glass, barely visible, likely due to the oval shape of the glass or the original setting.
