A rare and spectacular sculpture depicting the famous “Spirit of Ecstasy,” an iconic figure created by British sculptor Charles Sykes, which became the legendary hood ornament of Rolls-Royce automobiles.
This significant silver-bronze interpretation depicts the winged goddess in her characteristic pose, her body leaning forward, the flowing drapery evoking speed, elegance, and a spirit of adventure.
The quality of the modeling particularly highlights the face, the flowing folds of the garment, and the stylized wings, which beautifully catch the light.
The work bears the cast signature “C. Sykes” on the pedestal and rests on an elegant circular base of black marble and white alabaster, adorned with an engraved plaque:
