Eugène Bazin — Gouaches Depicting French Victory
Pair of battle scenes, gouaches, by Eugène Bazin (1799–1866). In an elongated landscape format, French troops are charging towards a hill. These are likely scenes from the Crimean War of 1853–1856, featuring the famous siege of Sevastopol. One is unsigned, the other is signed in the lower left-hand corner: ‘Bazin’.
Eugène Bazin was an artist who specialised in miniature paintings of battles and genre scenes.
