An Honorary Conductor's Baton, Circa 1860, Belonging To Mr. Gelez
An honorary conductor's baton for a brass band, crafted around 1860 from wood, silver, and ivory, which belonged to Mr. Gelez, director of the Chenôve brass band. The instrument features a cylindrical body made of ebonized wood. Its engraved silver ends are capped with ivory knobs. The center of the baton bears a silver cartouche engraved with the dedication: "LA FANFARE de CHENÔVE A Mr. GELEZ SON DIRECTEUR" (The Chenôve Brass Band to Mr. Gelez, its Director).
