Carved Wooden Christ
A boxwood sculpture depicting Christ on the cross, created around 1600–1650. The dying Christ leans his head onto his left shoulder, revealing twisted, openwork hair. In the Mannerist style, his imposing musculature is accompanied by a network of veins spreading across his limbs. The perizonium, held in place by a knot, is rendered as cascades of folds.
