Small Heraldic Coat Of Arms From The High Middle Ages, Carved Marble, Italy, Late 16th Century
A beautiful small Italian High Middle Ages coat of arms carved from white marble.
An interesting example of Renaissance interior ornamentation dating from the late 16th century.
The heraldic shield is surmounted by a princely crown with five trilobed points on the front. It features a design symmetrically divided into four sections, consisting of two crenellated towers on either side, with two rearing lions facing a small hill topped by a cross. The rim of the crown is decorated with cut gemstones in round and diamond shapes.....
In superb condition and with a very beautiful antique patina.
