An unusual and rare Satsuma ceramic kōgō (Japanese incense box) in the form of an egg, decorated with gold and polychrome enamels, raised on three small feet, signed Kinkozan-zō.

The miniature painting on the upper section depicts Lake Kawaguchi with Mount Fuji in the background. At the center appears a small boat carrying a fisherman, accompanied by other vessels with unfurled sails.

The lower section features an openwork lattice enclosing numerous butterflies in flight, while the interior is decorated with irises and cherry blossoms, completing this elegant box.
