Jacques Madyol was a Belgian painter associated with Luminism and figurative painting. He was born in Ixelles (Brussels) on September 6, 1871, and died there on August 15, 1950.
Biography:
Son of the painter Adrien Jean Madyol.
He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels from 1893 to 1897.
Co-founder of the artists’ circle Le Labeur in 1898, an influential Brussels-based art association.
In the early 20th century, he shared a studio with Ferdinand Schirren.
He worked extensively in the south of France, particularly around Nice, where he painted sun-drenched Mediterranean landscapes.
