Luca MADRASSI was a sculptor of Italian origin, born on June 8, 1848, in Tricesimo and died on April 6, 1919, in Paris. Luca MADRASSI began his artistic studies in Rome before attending the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where his teacher was Pierre Jules Cavelier. He then joined Carrier-Belleuse’s studio.
Between 1876 and 1880, Luca MADRASSI worked as an assistant to Gustave Doré; this collaboration may explain the similarities between the works of Carrier-Belleuse and Doré. He exhibited at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français in Paris beginning in 1879.
There, he received honorable mentions on several occasions (1881, 1882, 1883, and 1885).
He obtained French citizenship and became a member of the National Society of Fine Arts in 1896.
His works consist mainly of busts, statues, and statuettes with allegorical subjects.
Known for his prolific output of allegorical works and busts, his style exhibits a neoclassical tendency.
