The youngwoman, drawn with precise contours, is absorbed in her reading andunwittingly reveals her naked beauty to the viewer. This naïve naturalness isfully in the spirit of a new culture of the body and an ode toyouth that resonates in Art Nouveau. The colorful structure that coversthe entire work evokes a sense of gentle sensuality and lends thedepiction a sensual vibrato.
