This instrument is simple in construction but nonetheless sturdy. A
square base supports the stage. A plane mirror, set in a
swivelling wooden mount, is fixed at the centre of the base. Two cardboard tubes,
one sliding inside the other, are covered on the outside. At the top are further turned wooden rings which
support the eyepiece lens and also a cap serving
as a protective cover. The wooden assembly slides through
the square base
