18th-century Provençal Armchair
A beautiful Regency-era walnut chair from the Lower Rhône Valley region, known as the “Pézenas armchair.”
The side rails and back rail feature an accolade design, while the front rail is carved with a shell motif. The legs are curved and end in doe’s-hoof feet. An X-shaped brace completes this beautiful chair.
The armrests have a lovely sinuous line and curve outward from the chair.
The chair was thoroughly inspected by its previous owner, and the upholstery was professionally reupholstered.
It is upholstered in a lovely yellow fabric with Regency motifs.
A wide and majestic armchair, of fine quality and highly representative of this Provençal production from the early 18th century.
