Armchair With A Flat Back, Circa 1730–1740.
A rare high-seated armchair resting on spectacular crossbars, molded and carved with foliage and flowers. The large, particularly well-executed front apron lends this armchair—dating from the early reign of Louis XV—a striking presence. The backrest was originally caned. The seat is presented in its original patina with remnants of gilded trim. The horsehair upholstery is in perfect condition and covered with antique velvet (wear on one cuff). Ideal as an office chair.
