Suite Of 4 Convertibles 18th Century
Artist: Claude Chevigny
Beautiful suite of 4 Louis XV / Louis XVI period "en cabriolet" armchairs stamped by Claude CHEVIGNY.
These seats, 3 of which have been stripped, are in molded and carved meter, rechampi white.
Great elegance with a violonné back still Louis XV and a resolutely Louis XVI seat and base.
Fluted and rudented tapered base for the 4 seat legs, and a wide seat, a sign of comfort and quality.
These seats are in good woodwork condition.
CHEVIGNY stamp under the front belt of each of the 4 seats.
Claude CHEVIGNY
Received master carpenter in Paris on April 27, 1768, practiced on rue de Cléry until the Revolution and distinguished himself in the manufacture of luxury seats.
He made admirable works for the Duc de Choiseul at Chanteloup.
From this residence comes a salon furniture signed with his mark and which today adorns the Tours Chamber of Commerce.
Claude CHEVIGNY was a highly skilled chair cabinetmaker, who enjoyed a veritable renown.
He had a particular talent for designing armchairs and chairs whose overall lines and proportions were particularly pleasing.
All the furniture bearing his stamp retains that stamp of elegance and finesse that is so much a part of his style.
Height to back 92 cm
Height to seat 41 cm
Seat width 50 cm
Seat depth 48 cm
