Pair Of Armchairs, Louis XV Period. Stamped Cresson
Artist: Louis Cresson
Pair of armchairs in molded beechwood. Beautiful artistic lines thanks to the balanced, swaying movements between the back and the seat rail. They rest on cabriole legs. Louis XVI period. They are in very good condition. The embroidered silk fabric shows signs of wear but remains in very good condition. This pair of armchairs is stamped Louis Cresson, who became a Master on January 28, 1738. From a renowned family of chair makers, Louis Cresson is a sought-after signature because his output was not extensive. His chairs, which can be found notably at the Carnavalet Museum in Paris, are primarily recognized by their exquisite craftsmanship and remarkable forms. We have here a striking example.
