Bergère Chair, Queen-style Backrest Louis XV Period. Stamped

A large wingback chair with a flat back—known as a “Queen’s back”—made of walnut, richly molded and carved with original sunflower motifs on the back.
With outward-curving arms, it rests on small, arched legs joined by a curved band.
Louis XV period.
This bergère is stamped “Jean Baptiste LEROUGE,” who was admitted as a Master on February 17, 1749.
Indeed, its wide backrest and seat are highly sought-after features due to their undeniable comfort.
This cabinetmaker was based on Rue de Charenton in Paris. He died in 1757.
This is most certainly an early work, already demonstrating his true talent.

This armchair is in very good condition, with the wood showing little wear (a small section of the back leg has been restored).The inner band bears traces of the various upholstery coverings it has had over the years.
