Claude Etienne MICHARD (1732-1794)
Parisian carpenter, he was established on rue Sainte Foy. His seats were always very carefully executed, as illustrated by the very spirited sculpture on the back of this seat. He specialized in the interpretation of the Transition style, mixing Louis XV forms with more neoclassical ornaments. He worked in particular for the Duke of Choiseul, for the Château de Chanteloup, or even for the Duce of Rochefoucault d'Enville.
