The Revernay Workshop, named after the hamlet of Revernay where the director’s official residence for the Digoin pottery Digoin, presented its first pieces at the 1900 World’s Fair in Paris. The pieces were crafted using traditional techniques, in small batches, and in keeping with the trend of simplifying art and rediscovering nature that was in vogue at that time.
After World War I, production seemed to shift more toward industrialization, and the pieces were added to the catalog of products from the parent factory, Utzschneider et Cie, founded around 1896.
For reasons that remain unclear—whether due to a failure to adapt to society’s new aspirations or a loss of creative momentum—production ceased around 1930.
