A charming baby elephant by the great Swiss sculptor Arnold Uggler.
A rare piece, possibly from a very small series (no sales records found).
A very beautiful bronze with a rectangular foundry stamp: CIRE PERDUE BASCEGLIA (in collaboration with the artist in Paris from 1920 to 1936).
Signed on the back of the elephant: ARNOLD UGGLER.
Green patina with brown undertones.
Slight wear on the patina (particularly on the tops of the ears), and some minor oxidation that does not detract from the piece’s appearance.
The belly and trunk are slightly offset from the base, and together with the lively eye, give the subject a realistic, even lifelike appearance.
A superb sculpture for display in a showcase or on a desk.
