"Bronze Bull By Fratin "
We present this spectacular bronze sculpture of a bull by Christophe Frantin. Christophe Frantin was a renowned 19th-century animal sculptor, born in 1801 and died young in 1864 at the age of 63. He was born in Metz, Moselle, and died in Le Raincy, Seine-et-Oise. He is known for his exceptional skill. Upon arriving in Paris at a young age, he studied drawing and continued his apprenticeship with two great artists, Carle Vernet and Géricault. He also studied animals with his taxidermist father, which allowed him to reach the forefront of the art world alongside Auguste Cain (1821-1891), François Pompon (1855-1933), and Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875). For me, as a lover of 19th-century bronzes and sculptures, he is one of the greatest. This bull is very beautiful; all his bronzes were cast by Susse Frères. Our bronze is guaranteed authentic but cast by the Société de Bronzes. FRATIN is a close collaborator of Parisian foundries, excluding SUSSE FRERES. Our bronze is superb but has two minor imperfections: firstly, the tail has been re-soldered (see photo), and secondly, the base of the front of the base is slightly damaged, but nothing serious.
