Louis XV-style Tomb Chest, With Marquetry And Marble
An elegant, curved chest of drawers with three drawers on the front, crafted in the Louis XV style.
It features rich geometric marquetry in a curly pattern of precious woods, embellished with extensive decorative bronze hardware: drop handles, lock plates, corner finials, and a central crossbar ornament.
The top is crowned with a beautiful marble slab in shades of pink, beige, and gray, with a molded border around the edge.
The sides are curved and veneered, in keeping with the tradition of French tombau chests of drawers.
The harmonious proportions and the quality of the marquetry suggest a finely crafted piece from the early 20th century, inspired by 18th-century models.
