Important Period Console Table From The Reign Of Charles X, Made Of Walnut With Marquetry – Circa 1825–1830
A very beautiful Charles X-era console table, crafted from walnut veneer and richly decorated with light-wood marquetry.
The apron features an elegant inlay design of facing swans, scrollwork, foliage, and stylized motifs.
This decoration continues on the front legs of the console, adorned with light-wood floral motifs.
The rectangular top displays beautiful grain and is edged with a delicate geometric inlaid frieze around its perimeter.
The console rests on two strongly curved front legs, ending in large carved feet shaped like palmettes or shells, and two straight rear legs also decorated with marquetry.
The piece is held together by a substantial low, carved crossbar, which is particularly decorative and features a figurative marquetry medallion at its center.
A highly decorative piece, characteristic of French furniture from the Restoration and the Charles X period, remarkable for the richness of its veneer and the finesse of its marquetry decoration.
