Paul LICOURT (1846–1937)
A landscape painter, he was born in Sivry-sur-Meuse (55) in 1846. His teachers were Harpignies, Yon, and Edmond Petitjean. He exhibited landscapes at the Salon de Nancy between 1880 ("The Path to the Mill at Consenvoye," purchased by the SLAA) and at least 1924: "Les Mortes de Tonnoy-sur-Moselle" (1882) - A Pond (1884) - Ripe Meadows, Dombasle on a Cloudy Day, In the Meadow at Essey, Surroundings of Nancy (1886) - "Paysage meusien," "The Meuse at Charleville in 1907," etc...
It is known that Emile FRIANT painted his portrait, which was exhibited at the 1883 Paris Salon.
At the 1914 Paris Salon des Artistes Français, he exhibited an oil on canvas titled "On the Meuse."
In 1920, he was living in Paris. He exhibited at the Remiremont Salon with works including a View of Pierre-la-Treiche and the Meuse River.
The artist was particularly fond of riverbanks (Meurthe, Moselle, Meuse).
He died in Verdun in September 1937
