A beautiful atmosphere rendered by the powerful effects of light and by a certain simplicity excluding any anecdote, inviting us perhaps more to imagine the sounds of the city than to be satisfied with a gratuitous picturesque. Jules ROUSSET (1840-1921) was born in Aillant-sur-Milleron (Loiret 45). Landscape portrait painter and orientalist. He was a student of Léon Cogniet and Isidore Pils at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and exhibited at the Salon from 1867. He exhibited paintings on Algeria in 1888 at the Salon de Blois.
