18th-century Neapolitan Santon Head
Neapolitan terracotta santon bust. The face has a very beautiful expression, enhanced by its full beard and sulfur-colored eyes. Slight chip at the base, a small chip in the beard. This santon head has come down to us in fairly good condition considering its past use in nativity scenes and processions, which would have required regular handling. Saint Paul?
