Tebako: Modern Japanese Lacquer Box - Japan
Large Wajima lacquer box, titled "Takarabako " (treasure box) featuring a modern design with shell motifs, large areas of red lacquer, silver and gold makie-e, and metal (lead alloy).
An interior compartment is crafted in nashiji lacquer.
The interior of the box is also in nashiji lacquer.
Its carrying case is signed "Hino-tsuku" and bears the seal indicating "Noto Wajima" and signed "Hino-tsuku," which refers to the style and construction used in its creation by the Hino maki-e lacquer workshop located in Wajima.
