Antique wooden wedding or dowry chest carved with primitive art motifs.

It comes from the Indian region of Rajasthan and was used to hold the jewelry that the bride’s family offered as a dowry for their daughter’s wedding. The distinctive shape of this precious container is typical of Mughal tradition, featuring a small door that opens in the center of the roof-shaped lid.
It is made of carved cedar wood and reinforced with wrought-iron strips.
Measures 43 x 28 cm and 35 cm high.
In good condition; one leg was restored some time ago, and a few decorative elements are missing.
