Lamp – Muller Brothers
An Art Deco lamp made around 1920 in the Muller Brothers’ workshops in Lunéville. Its circular wrought-iron base is decorated with roses. The shaft consists of a slender stem that branches into three arms to support the lampshade. The glass shade has a marbled effect with shades of purple and pink.
Signed on the outside of the lampshade: ‘Muller Fres Lunéville’.
Originally from Bitche, the Muller family settled in Meurthe-et-Moselle after 1870. The siblings, comprising nine brothers and one sister, trained in the glass trade. Eugène Muller (1883–1914), Désiré Muller (1877–1952) and Henri Muller (1868–1936) are the best-known members of this family. They were initially recruited by Émile Gallé (1846–1904), then founded their own workshop in 1897 in Croisemare, near Lunéville.
Period: circa 1920–1930.
