A large fossil tooth of Carcharodontosaurus saharicus, one of the largest predatory dinosaurs to have ever existed. This impressive specimen, from our gallery’s private collection, stands out for its phenomenal dimensions and excellent state of preservation. As clearly shown in the photograph, this tooth far exceeds the size of an adult hand.

Carcharodontosaurus, the "shark-toothed lizard," was a massive theropod that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 100 to 94 million years ago, in what is now North America's counterpart, North Africa (primarily Morocco). It was a fearsome contemporary of Spinosaurus and the African equivalent—in terms of its colossal size—to Tyrannosaurus rex, which would roam North America nearly 30 million years later. This tooth, a true hunting weapon, carries the history of a long-lost ecosystem.

Specifications:

  • Dimensions: An impressive length of 172 mm, width of 53 mm, and thickness of 25 mm.

  • Weight: A substantial 218 grams, testifying to its density and preservation.

  • Preservation: The tooth features a rich, dark coloration with beautifully preserved enamel and structure (subject to restorations and consolidations). The base of the tooth is solid and well-defined. A specimen of this size and integrity is rare and highly sought after by discerning collectors.

Collector's Interest:This tooth is not merely a paleontological relic; it is a high-value collector's item, a fragment of a giant from the past. Its exceptional size immediately positions it as a centerpiece for any fossil collection worthy of the name. It represents a secure investment and a continuous source of admiration.
