Male portrait typical of England in the second half of the 17th century, in the tradition of aristocratic portraiture developed after Van Dyck. The sitter is depicted in bust form, wearing a dark suit enlivened by a white jabot.

The work is presented in a fine antique carved and gilded wooden frame showing some traces of age.
