rare, because we have the pair,
"repoussé" chased silver wedding vases in ghalam zani .
Original to Isfahan, Iran, late 19th century period, in very good condition .
On each vase, the body is adorned with three large medallions decorated with cranes frolicking in interlacing, flowers, and accompanied by birds playing in the foliage.
The crane, is the "symbol of love and fidelity", (wedding gift).
The neck is embellished with a hemstitched garland of flowers.
Under each vase, three Oriental hallmarks in Persian calligraphy are applied.
This type of vase so finely executed in repoussé is rare in pairs.
## Engraving, known as Ghalam Zani, is the art of carving designs on metal.
Isfahan, Isfahan is the main center of engraving.
The thousand-year-old technique still exists today.
The pieces come out of the workshops in high-gloss tinned copper to give the pieces the shine of silver or silver.
