Second Half Of The 19th Century Painting Of The Gulf Of Naples By J.h. Bradely
Artist: J. H. Bradley
Refined oil painting on canvas, in a red velvet mat, with a plaque, a carved and gilded wooden frame, and protected by glass. The painting depicts a landscape view of the city of Naples, with Mount Vesuvius in the distance, seen from the Parco Virgiliano in Posilippo, near "La Grotta." The painting is signed lower right, with the name of the artist, J. H. Bradley (1832-1888), a famous English painter, and the date of the work, 1872. The back also bears a series of inscriptions in English, describing the view and the moment of the work, which was painted under the afternoon sun. This is a painting of great taste and refinement, capable of lending a touch of elegance and antiquity to any setting. English manufacture, second half of the 19th century (c. 1872).
