Late 19th Century Bronze "fisherman" Sculpture
Elegant lost-wax bronze sculpture. The sculpture depicts a young fisherman, naked, with only a small cloth band covering his pubic area. The boy wears a fisherman's hat and holds a freshly caught fish in his hand. It's also noteworthy that the statue is placed on a rock, on which a crab and a fishing basket can be seen. The sculpture's stylistic and physiognomic rendering of the body and face are evident, with the latter smiling and happy after a successful catch. This is a sculpture of great taste and refinement, capable of adding a touch of class to any setting. Made in Naples (Southern Italy), it can be attributed to the Gemito school, around the end of the 19th century.
