Pair Of Perso-indian Gilt- Embroidered Textile Panels, Early XXth Century
Pair of early XX Persian-Indian textile panels in silk and gold thread. This is a classic of historic Zardozi embroidery (traditional Persian and Indian embroidery).
The motifs feature an ornate central floral medallion, surrounded by large stylized leaves (resembling ivy or vine leaves), scrolling vines and subtle boteh (cashmere) shapes at the corners of the inner frame. Interspersed between the heavy metallic elements are delicate silk-thread embroideries in pastel shades of pink, cream and pale blue/green, adding dimension and softness to the heavy metallic work. The edges are finished with a delicate fringe of metallic thread.
