White Marble Coat Of Arms Of Cardinal Antonio Felice Chigi-zondadari - Siena, Circa 1712

White marble coat of arms of Cardinal Antonio Felice Chigi-Zondadari, created a cardinal in 1712.
Siena, first quarter of the 18th century.
A man of great political charisma and the founder of the united Chigi-Zondadari dynasty, he promoted numerous and important urban development projects in the city of Siena, from which this small and refined coat of arms originates.
The coat of arms depicts the combined coats of arms of the Chigi and Zondadari families, surmounted by the cardinal’s biretta, still retaining its red polychromy.
In the lower part, there is a small carved grotesque mask, typical of the Sienese style between the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
The left side of the piece has a large chip, resulting in the loss of almost all the fringe of the galero, without, however, compromising its legibility.
A piece of great charm and historical-artistic value, linked to two of the most important families in Siena and beyond.
