FIRST QUARTER OF THE 19th CENTURY EMPIRE BUREAU IN GOLDEN CASHJOY AND BRONZE
Important Empire mahogany and speckled mahogany veneer desk opening in front with 4 drawers, including a large central drawer, and resting on four cylindrical legs with gilt bronze rings joined by an elegant X-shaped brace.
The top is upholstered in green leather framed by a gilded small-iron frieze. It is fitted with two leather-wrapped side pulls to considerably increase the working surface.
The front is adorned with remarkable chased and gilded bronzes decorated with confronting swans, an emblematic attribute of the Empire style, as well as finely executed winged motifs. The quality of the flamed mahogany veneer and the balance of proportions testify to fine craftsmanship.
This desk has all the characteristics of the great representative furniture made under the First Empire. Its generous dimensions and architectural presence make it a choice piece for a cabinet, a library or a prestigious classical interior.
