Very Large Flat Wrought-iron Chandelier, Late 19th Century
A substantial two-tiered wrought iron chandelier, composed of 18 light arms. Each arm was forged, drawn, thinned, and then shaped by hand, revealing remarkable ironwork craftsmanship.
The structure, visually light despite its size, is enlivened by an elegant interplay of curves and counter-curves. The arms unfold harmoniously around a central frame on two levels, creating an airy and balanced whole. The decorative elements in the form of stylized leaves and forged scrolls attest to entirely handcrafted work.
The beautiful burnished patina of the iron, preserved in its original state, underscores the authentic character of this striking decorative piece. This chandelier evokes French ironwork of the 17th and 18th centuries, in the spirit of the grand lighting fixtures found in stately homes, castles, or country houses.
