Painted sheet metal processional sign, mounted on its original handle, bearing the inscription "Congrégation de St Maurice" in gilded letters.
The curved plate depicts the haloed Virgin in a cloud, treated in a popular devotional painting style, with soft tones and spontaneous drawing. The set was intended for confraternity processions.
The devotion to Saint Maurice, particularly rooted in the Alpine arc (Savoy, Valais, Piedmont), points towards production in this region in the mid-19th century.
