Ornamental centerpiece featuring a translucent clear onyx bowl holding a small central vase with two handles. The gilded metal mounts are highlighted by meticulous polychrome champlevé enameling, featuring floral and plant motifs. The whole set rests on four small feet. This alliance between the minerality of the stone and the colorful richness of the enamel reflects the eclectic taste of the decorative arts at the end of the 19th century, in line with the Napoleon III style.
