19th-century Syrian Ewer From Damascus, Made Of Copper Inlaid With Silver
A large Syrian copper ewer, richly engraved and inlaid with silver, made in Damascus in the 19th century. Its decoration covers the entire surface and combines elegant Arabic calligraphy, plant scrolls, medallions with geometric motifs, and rich ornamentation inspired by Mamluk metalwork. The handle and the elongated spout also feature finely chiseled decoration, attesting to the craftsmanship of the Damascene workshops.
