Napoleon III Period Or Style Jewelry Box, Late XIXᵉ Century
Jewelry box entirely in natural burr veneer, slightly domed on the lid.
Sober, elegant shape typical of boxes from the second half of the XIXᵉ century
The lid is surrounded by a slightly light wood veneer and embellished with elegant central marquetry decoration featuring a poly-lobed cartouche with stylized scroll motifs, crafted in wood species (rosewood type, ebony) and brass.
This motif is inspired by the rocaille and vegetal ornaments popular under the Second Empire.
Lock with its rosette-decorated key in functional condition.
The interior is finely upholstered in slightly pinkish satin fabrics, showing signs of wear, visible on the photographs, tokens of history and authenticity.
Very fine piece
Very good overall condition. Please note that the veneer on the sides shows some light wear marks, with no lack of material.
