Corinthian Column With A Twisted, Gilded, Carved Wooden Frame
A twisted Corinthian column in gilded wood, resting on a stepped, molded base.
The helical shaft is carved with vine leaves and bunches of grapes in relief. It is surmounted by a Corinthian capital adorned with acanthus leaves and an octagonal top forming a pedestal.
The whole piece has a golden-brown patina. A very fine 18th-century column with an octagonal top and a 19th-century square base.
Height: 113 cm.
Top width: 30.5 cm, including a 13 cm diameter inset. Base: 30.5 x 30.5 cm. Wear and patina consistent with age.
